Can hypnosis be used to break bad habits, such as self-injurious behaviours? How successfully?

Question by mb: Can hypnosis be used to break bad habits, such as self-injurious behaviours? How successfully?
I’ve been told that during hynotism, the patient being hypnotised is especially willing to comply with suggestions. If a doctor were to, say, somehow convince me to forget all about cutting, would that aid in my recovery?

Please, don’t suggest counseling or medication or anything like that. I’ve tried everything. I’m still in therapy and group sessions, and not seeing any improvement.

Thanks in advance.

Then speak to your therapist about hypnosis…it is a legitimate form of treatment and they will know. There is also a relatively new form of therapy called Dialectical Behavioral Therapy that has had success with other borderline behaviors such as self-injury. Your therapist can tell you about it as well. I wish I could tell you there are easy answers, but there are not.
