Question by Charlie: How can I stop myself fainting at the sight of blood?
In a few years I am planning to join medical school because I find human biology fascinating, the problem is I often faint at the sight of blood, I am not scared of blood nor do I have a phobia of it, but some sort of “caveman instinct” kicks in when I see blood, next thing I know I’m lying on the floor, does anyone know if any therapy or hypnosis type treatment would be available to cure my problem or I’ll never be able to achieve my life ambitions?

Just think about it, blood is a natural thing and everyone has blood.
So why do you faint at it? It’s nothing gross or digusting. It’s natural. Nothing to faint about! Remind yourself this when you see it! Good luck! =)

I don’t know what to say? Maybe you should go to your doctor and see if there is anything he/she can do.

hypnosis is a good idea. it helps with phobias. a lot of exposure to blood will probably be a cure. i was afraid of needles until i developed some health problems. i,ve had so many sticks i don,t even give it much thought. my niece is a nurse, she almost puked when learning how to give shots. lots of mandatory exposure cured this phobia.

Try a method called, applied tension. When you start to feel the symptoms of fainting flex your arms and legs and any other muscles. This will raise your blood pressure, keeping you conscious.
