Question by Krioni: How do I use method acting techniques and self-hypnosis to improve my writing? What are some things I can do?
To help my writing I think I need to get in touch with the characters more. How do I get into his head and really feel what he’s feeling – like method actors do? Assuming I know nothing about this, any tips?

I would just relax somewhere comfortable, close my eyes and imagine being that person, seeing things from their eyes, standing in there shoes, also watching others (in real life or on tv) who have similar character traits.

    Hi there…

Guess the way best way to get in touch with the characters is by doing self-hypnosis. I’ve especially created a simple step-by-step guide to help you out here:

To begin with, you will need to make sure that you will not be disturbed for at least half an hour, preferably an hour. Find a comfortable place. Somewhere that is neat and tidy, and of a comfortable temperature. You can be seated, or laid down – whichever is most comfortable for you. Importantly make sure that your legs are not crossed.

Close your eyes and take 10 slow deep breaths – in through the nose, and out through the mouth. Say to yourself the word ‘Relax’ on each outward breath.

Now imagine yourself at the top of 10 steps, with a door at the bottom. With every slow step you take down, feel yourself getting deeper and deeper relaxed. While imagining yourself, it’ll be hard for you initially stay focused. However through training and repetition, you’ll be able to get things right.

When you get to the bottom, open the door to your ideal place of relaxation. It could be a beautiful lake or a well maintained garden. You decide your destination. It’ll be better is the destination is a place where you characters live

Take a good look around and make full use of your senses. Pause and listen to any voices of your characters (ears). Perhaps you can smell the sweet scent of the girl character (nose). Touch the characters, and make it as real as you possibly can (hands).

Explore your relaxing moment and enjoy it as much as you can.

    Hope it helps mate!!
