Question by Kirt Sibbie: How does hypnosis work and how can I hypnotize my friend?
My friend is really scared of birds, but she doesn’t know why. I’ve taken several psychology classes and she’s asked me to help her. She was talking to me about maybe trying hypnosis, so I told her I’d look into it. I don’t really know anything about hypnotism or how to hypnotize anyone. I’m looking for either websites that give quick how-to’s do it for anyone. I’m also looking for explanations on how it works. Thank you so much to who ever answers!

I’m a Certified Hypnotist… Even if you trusted your friend to do the right thing, would you want her to learn about plastic surgery from free online sights so that she could practice on you? I’m not saying that hypnosis is that dangerous but I am trying to put it into some kind of perspective. Hypnosis can be quite beneficial in dealing with phobias but honestly your friend would be better served but seeing an experienced specialist. I know you may have the absolute best intentions but you could do more damage than good with out the proper experience.

Hypnosis can help you build motivation to exercise. Most people don’t really know what hypnosis is, so they have a fear of it. Hypnosis is simply a state of awareness where your subconscious mind is more alert than your conscious mind. It happens all the time in your daily life. It’s what you do when you’re in hypnosis that matters. When you are in hypnosis, you are generally more open to suggestion and may more easily act on suggestions that are given to you by the hypnotist. Here’s the thing: if you have a limiting belief about weight loss, fitness or exercise that is keeping you from working out, you will not be receptive to those suggestions. Your subconscious is there to protect you, and if it for some reason believes that you are supposed to be the way you are, hypnotic suggestions will not get you the results you want.

There’s a lot of info available about hypnosis, a lot of cds and mp3s that might help you. You really need to get to the root of the issue, and a qualified hypnotist can help.

I can refer you to a hypnotist in your area if you decide to go that way or visit http://conversational-hypnosis-x-review.blogspot.com/,

  1. Summer says:

Hypnosis is a natural state where the conscious mind is relaxed, which allows the participant to be more suggestible. Ever get so caught up in a book or movie that you look at the time and wonder where the last few hours have gone? That’s a hypnotic state.

With that said, I wouldn’t recommend you play around with it. You don’t have a clue what you’re doing, and some people have adverse reactions.

If she really is scared of birds, she should see a professional – either a hypnotist or a licensed therapist – not a friend who’s taken a few psych classes and read a page or two on hypnosis on the internet.

If you hell-bent on learning about hypnosis, you can be a member of either guild with only a 100 hours of instruction in sanctioned classes, and then you’ll know what to do and what not to do. If that’s too much money, at least read a few books on the subject before playing around with it.
