Question by : Hypnosis…?
For all the Christians out there: Is hypnosis therapy considered an occultist practice? I just wondered, because a friend of mine tried it on me yesterday (I have PTSD, and though I was very skeptical, I allowed it because I know he was only doing it to try to help me) and I’m worried that I might have done something wrong.

There’s nothing supernatural or psychic about it. It’s just communicating with your less conscious self. I don’t know what could possibly be “wrong” about it.

No, hypnosis has it’s basis in scientific fact. There’s no mysticism in the genuine practice of it.

A properly trained hypnotist is using psychology which there is nothing wrong with. My mother is a christian and used hypnosis in 1989 to stop smoking and she hasn’t lit up since.

I was a little worried about it too but the Bible says God forbid to associate with charmers, fortune tellers and spirit mediums (those seeking wisdom, or knowledge of future by “talking to” demons or reading signs. instead of looking to God).
OK so my view is that hypnosis, if its not being taught from a “new age” perspective – I don’t think it falls into that category. Hypnosis is a naturally occurring brain-state. The enjoyment from watching a movie on “the big screen” and feeling pulled in and part of the action IS 100% hypnotic phenomenon. So if you watch TV and forgot what you were watching during the commercials then you’ve been hypnotized. When you “zone out” while driving and only notice when you come to a red light you are hypnotized too. I don’t think there is anything Satanic about that personally, but I am aware that it can be used to manipulate people as well as help them. So its very dependant on who is doing it and what they claim the power is from. I belive if God has given us wisdom about the brian and science its up to us to remember that, and its not the power of humans or spirits.

what you did wrong is let an amateur play with you. go to certified/registered hypnotists only. Hypnotism is like anything else, someone will try to use it in an improper way. Would let a friend work on your teeth just to help you?Home dentistry for fun and profit!

    sorry about the rant!!!!
