Question by Toan: Can hypnosis actually make us lose memories?
Some have told me that hypnotherapist can make us lose memories by using hypnosis, I think this is impossible. It’s not clear to me, because what I’ve known is hypnotherapy can make us recall the long lost memories only. I don’t know if that is right or not.
So, who know well about this, please tell me. Thanks.

Well technically you don’t lose any memories. What you can do is just tell your unconscious to just not remember certain things that would be considered harmful from your past. The best thing actually would be to go back to that time on your timeline and re-decide what that event means, creating a new positive meaning and learning would actually serve you better then just forgetting a memory. So yes, you can tell yourself to just not remember, its more like you just wont be effected by that anymore. You can also recall past memories…if it is positive then that is a good thing, but if it is a negative memory there are ways to do it without reliving the negative feelings. I hope this answers your question. icon smile Q&A: Can hypnosis actually make us lose memories?
