Q&A: Is hypnosis and meditation the same thing?

Question by : Is hypnosis and meditation the same thing?
If I meditate for 1 hour straight and repeat suggestions, would I get the same effect as a hypnosis session? I mean, I hear some hypnotherapists saying that Hypnosis is “different”, but all has the same goal right? Bypassing to the Subconscious. If we are in the same brainwave state, I would assume it’s pretty much the same thing. The reason being, I am going on vacation and I hope to fix my problems. I want to dedicate about 45 minutes a day on meditation with suggestions

You’re right, it’s about bypassing the critical analytical mind. In order to do that with hypnosis, you use the same relaxation and visualization techniques you use in meditation. However, meditation is about trying to remove all things from the mind (the absence of thoughts), whereas hypnosis is a tool to focus and center the thoughts to achieve a specific goal.

If you already know how to perform meditation and you want to do self-hypnosis, just relax your body the same way you usually do, and give yourself direct suggestions. Hypnosis also uses NLP language patterns, future visualizations, time line work and parts therapy, making it a bit different from meditation, as well.
