Question by T¬R: What are some good techniques to hypnotize someone?
I’d like to learn the art of hypnosis, just as a fun thing. I understand that while science has provided evidence towards hypnosis actually working, you can’t make someone do something they wouldn’t normally do while fully aware of their actions.
Anyways, just for fun, how do you get someone into a state of hypnosis, and what are some simple things that you could likely get them to do?

you could use a technique called progressive relaxation. What you do is to try to relax your subject completely like saying calming words like ‘close your eyes and relax’. The subject would now be so comfortable that his/her defences will be down, therefore entering a highly responsive trance in which he/her will be open to hypnotic suggestions.

  1. Hmmmm.....I forgot. says:

Ohhh, I know someone named Tristan. I wonder if you’re the same guy (Not likely, but it would be so funny. ^_^)

Okay, I don’t know the answer, but I’d like to point something out from what you said:
“you can’t make someone do something they wouldn’t normally do while fully aware of their actions. ”
So, if I normally don’t climb trees or jump in circles, you can’t make me do it while being hypnotised? That is sooooo limited.

Hm.. I know it sounds like a lot of fun, but it can be dangerous. ” playing” with someones sub conscious is not to be recommended, the professionals make it look easy, but it is not. Do not attempt it without training.

this is one of my favorite questions! :) .
Yes, yes you can use progressive relaxation inductions, and fixation inductions and those work great but they take waaaayyy too long to do, on average they take 10-40 minutes.
i perform instant inductions. Which takes roughly about 1-4 minutes!
    ok heres a few secrets,
there are several things you can do to induce trance on people which are shock, eye fixation, loss of equillibrium, and distraction.
heres a technique (you can even check it out on youtube) its called the eight word induction
    1. (put your hand out) ask the person to press down on your hand
2.tell them to close their eyes(make sure your hand doesnt go down as theyre pressing)
    3. quickly pull your hand away and give the comand “sleep” but say it very quickly

    ill explain why this works:
when you pull their hand away that creates shock, while their brain looks for an answer to explain what just happened they become highly suggestable and if you give the suggestion to sleep at the right moment, they should respond
    Goodluck
