Question by Power: What is the difference between someone who is being influenced & someone who is thinking clearly?
I see tv brainwashing people with propaganda. I see religions using hypnosis & it is used in so many ways. What would describe a healthy not influenced yet open mind.

When thinking and making decisions you are always influenced by the facts you know. For instance when cooking you do not put detergent in your food, because you know it is not good, even though you have never tried eating it. Other people have told you this and thus your decision was made under their influence.

But if someone ill intentioned convinces you that detergent is good to eat and you believe it, other people who know better will say that “you have been influenced”. Here “influenced” is used as a manner of speech to describe a form of deception, by folk who see clearly past the ruse (or are “thinking clearly”)
